Rent the Runway, the purveyor of luxury for borrow, just announced a partnership with Neiman Marcus that will make it easier than ever to rent a look and then style it to perfection. Starting with Neiman Marcus’s Stockton Street location in San Francisco, Rent the Runway will open stores within the department store. The goal? To allows customers to borrow parts of their look from Rent the Runway, then purchase other item to complete it from Neiman Marcus’s giant inventory. “We believe that our partnership marks a major structural change within the retail industry, demonstrating that renting is a smart complement to ownership in an increasingly access-oriented world,” Rent the Runway co-founder and CEO Jennifer Hyman said in a statement.
To make the “rent/buy” model even more appealing to shoppers, Rent the Runway will offer a few added perks in its Neiman Marcus stores, including styling by appointment in which a Rent the Runway stylist will hand-select pieces for the customer based on their digital profile, an in-app concierge to last-minute booking and delivery of rentals, and a brand-new RTR Bar, where customers can get in-person help with order concerns, rental returns, and quick styling advice.
